Barge

A queue for file operations.

Not a faster copier, a scheduler for copies. One transfer at a time, in the order you choose, verified before anything is deleted.

The problem

I keep a Samba share on a Linux box at home and back a Windows laptop up to it. Selecting four folders and copying them at once made every one of them crawl, and then one would sit at 99% until I gave up and cancelled, which meant starting that folder again from nothing.

Parallelism is the wrong answer when the bottleneck is one network pipe. The right answer is a queue.

Verify, then delete

A move is a copy followed by a delete, and the delete is the dangerous half. Barge checks that what arrived matches what left, and only then removes the original. If verification fails, the source stays exactly where it is.
